The facilities of the Institute are ideally fitted for training in quantity food preparation and services. The practical kitchen features Gas Cookers and Oven, Dough Mixer, Cake Mixer, Deep Fryer, JuiceExtractors etc. In short, the facilities in this Institute, combined with practical training and the theory, create an atmosphere that stimulate indpendent entrepreneursn the field of catering management.
The Institute maintain an action placement assistance and career counseling unit to assist its graduates in obtaining suitable positions. It has well established relationship with several organizations that require the service of qualified caterers. Graduands of this Institute are in good demands in hotels, motels, holiday’s campus, staff canteens, airways and railways etc.
In addition to the training of students in the institutes own laboratories and classrooms, students are placed in appropriate establishment such as hotels, fast food industries and other organizations “on-the-job” practical training for a period of 12 weeks or longer. This Industrial Training is a compulsory exercise for every student and serves as a prerequisite for the award of certificate or Diploma of the Institute.
In addition to the Institute’s own terminal and final examination which lead to the award of particular cetificate or diploma, the institute prepares its students for several external examination such as (i.)National Business and Technical and Technical Examination Board NABTEB (ii.) Trade Test Examination (Lagos State Examination Board) (iii.) Certificate and Diploma in food hygiene of the West Africa Health Examination.
